A selection of incredible sculptural copper wire baskets in the shape of animals (mainly marine creatures), seed pods, human organs, and other organic forms designed by Sally Blake, a talented Canberra-based visual artist who works across textiles, drawing, and sculpture.
In my practice I explore the relationship between the human and natural worlds. I have found ways to collaborate with natural processes, in particular rain and dyes from plants, to make artworks. I use a number of textile techniques — dyeing, basketry, weaving, stitching, piecing — as well as paper-based media to produce works that arise in the potential space between self and nature.
