Huge wave sculptures made of thousands of discarded straws by Von Wong

As an attempt to call attention to the marine pollution issues, Canadian artist Von Wong has created an impressive pair of wave sculptures made of 168,037 discarded straws and reclaimed plastic. Wong had the help of various volunteers and spent six months to gather, sort, and assemble the straws.

“The installation is meant to depict the parting of the plastic ocean in an attempt to engage and encourage individuals to say no to single-use plastics, especially straws.” – Von Wong.
