kNOTs: armor-like textile sculptures made of thousands of knots by Sandra de Groot

Dutch artist Sandra de Groot, founder of Atelier CHAOS, creates intricate wearable armor-like textile sculptures made of thousands of knots. Groot uses the traditional Turkish technique of macramé to crafts her incredible pieces that together compose the installation titled kNOTs.

Each sculpture is knotted by hand and during that process contemporary innovation is generated. With her kNOTs installations, it is Sandra’s goal to heighten awareness by actually confronting the viewer with large quantities of knots and ropes. This raises questions about time, technique, intensiveness and intensity. And it creates the opportunity for a transparent dialogue between object, viewer and inventor / maker.
